The $108 million power plant was inaugurated by Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo, will power 50,000 homes and offset 214,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
The power plant is Masdar’s first floating solar project and its first renewable energy project in the Southeast Asian market, is expected to produce around 300 GWh/year.
It is also the largest such project built in a hydropower reservoir with a water depth of 100 metres, water level fluctuation of 18 metres, and a 50-metre difference in water bottom elevation.
